Automotive EMC 2006 Conference: Sponsors Review

This review is written specifically for sponsors of the Automotive EMC 2006 Conference and examines the marketing benefits of sponsorship of the conference.  It is intended for a limited circulation within the sponsor community of the Automotive EMC Network, but as it is placed on-line may be accessed by non-sponsoring persons.  Consequently there will be little financial discussions included.

General Review

The view of the organiser on the conference delegates is available via a separate  report of the delegate questionnaire responses issued and linked from the June 2006 Automotive EMC newsletter.  It is advisable to read this general review in concert with the review here (use the hyperlink above).  The above also contains a link to the questionnaire response from the delegates, hence their view of the conference is also available.

There was again a massive interest shown via website hits and the actual attendance at Automotive EMC 2005 was only 44 attendees, in fact it was over-subscribed and was limited primarily be the room size at the NEC.

The attendance was equally as geographically diverse as we have previously experienced with delegates from continental Europe, Japan and Taiwan in attendance.

Conference Sponsorship

It is very difficult to gauge the marketing benefit of sponsoring the Automotive EMC 2006 Conference (any conference come to that) and how many people are now aware of a company due to it's link with the conference is difficult.  Ultimately as no financial transactions take place it can not be considered a negative impact on a company regardless of the magnitude of exposure gained from being linked to the conference.

The conference page received just under 40,000 hits from January 2006 up to the event itself in May an a total of 63,766 in 2006, hence the sponsors will have had their name viewed by all these web visitors (estimated at over 6000 distinct visitors).  Our general website statistics suggest that these result in a 50:1 hits-to-referrals ratio, hence, 120 distinct visitors to the sponsoring companies website referred from the AutoEMC.net conference pages.

The poster (including sponsors logos) was printed by the Automotive EMC Network as A5 postcard and approximately 800 were distributed prior to the event by direct mail and at several other EMC and Automotive events and various trade shows.  This year we again had media sponsorship from EMC & Compliance Journal (print media) and Automotive Digest (web media) and additionally via Automotive Electronics.  Although sponsors did not get any direct mention in these publications the link to the conference page of the website was included and undoubtedly contributed to the increase in hits to the conference pages compared to 2005.

Delegate Bag Sponsorship

Delegate bag sponsorship was ca co-operative arrangement by five companies; EM Test AG, EMV Ltd, ETS-Lindgren, 3C Test Ltd and Flomerics.  All had their logo and name on the website and included in the delegate information packs and proceedings, plus their marketing materials were distributed to all delegates and speakers who received a delegate bag at the event.

For 2007 we are running a co-operative event with EMC UK 2007 and they are providing the delegate bags..

Automotive EMC 2007 Conference

The 2007 Conference is already in planning for the Newbury Racecourse at EMC UK 2007.
